Clashes at Jerusalem holy site for 3rd straight day

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israeli police say they are clashing with Palestinian protesters at Jerusalem's most sensitive holy site for a third straight day.

Police spokeswoman Luba Samri said police entered the Al Aqsa mosque compound early Wednesday morning to disperse a group of protesters who were throwing rocks and firecrackers.

She says the crowd was dispersed and no one was injured or arrested.

The site is revered by Jews and Muslims and is a frequent flashpoint of violence. On Tuesday, Jordan, the custodian of the Muslim holy sites, has urged Israel to restore calm.
